Make Every Occasion A Great Occasion!

"I'm given credit for some genius. All the genius I have lies in this: When I have a subject in hand, I study it profoundly. Day and night it is before me. My mind becomes pervaded with it. Then the effort which I have made is what people are pleased to call the fruit of genius. It is the fruit of labor and thought."

Make every occasion a great occasion for you never know who's taking your measure for a higher position -- including, of course, buying your product or service.

Every occasion - even an unwanted, time-consuming interruption - can be transformed into a great occasion. How? Simply by viewing the event through the lens of an expectant, creative attitude.

A prospect calls and cancels an appointment at the last minute. A great occasion? Hardly! But wait! Turn that temporary "rejection" into a reward. Use those few free minutes to take stock of the situation.

Remember this truth: There are always other sources. There are always other prospects, customers and clients. The salesperson who realizes this will inevitably grow from anxiety to confidence, from fear to courage in the face of fear, and from pessimism to productivity.

Depending on our attitude toward them, interruptions can:

*  be viewed as sources of irritation or opportunities for service
*  be viewed as moments lost or experiences gained
*  be viewed as time wasted or horizons widened
*  annoy us or enrich us
*  get under our skin or give us a shot in the arm
*  monopolize our minutes or spice our schedules

No occasion is a "little" occasion. No moment is insignificant in its own way. No person is unimportant in his/her own eyes.

This call - this interruption, this question, this objection, this situation - can be a very great occasion if you choose to make it so!
